I’m Deanna Barton, a Board Certified Art Therapist. With over a decade of experience, I understand how overwhelming life can feel at times. I integrate art, movement, and nature-based practices to promote emotional well-being and foster a sense of community. My approach is rooted in a commitment to radical healing, especially for marginalized communities. Together, we can address challenges like trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and the impact of systemic inequities through creative expression.
My own mental health journey and my identity as a Black woman deeply influence how I work. I believe in the transformative power of art to embrace all aspects of who you are and create a space for authentic self-expression. In our sessions, I strive to offer a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your internal and external worlds through art-making, allowing you to find new ways to express yourself and process your experiences.
We may engage in various creative activities, such as drawing, painting, sewing, photography, creative writing, and mindfulness practices. My goal is to support you in navigating life transitions, finding work/life balance, boosting your confidence, overcoming creative blocks, managing perfectionism, and fostering personal growth. I’m here to help you achieve emotional release and greater self-awareness, guiding you toward a deeper sense of fulfillment.
